Bill Currie's escapades legendary
Widely remembered and often told is the story of Bill Currie and his nap casket. It's not true, but there are so many fantastical stories about Currie, former WSOC-TV sports director and Tar Heel football and basketball announcer, that it became legend. Currie, who died this week at 85, was a complicated man, a study in contrasts as vivid as the 50,000-watt plaid sportcoats he'd wear with mismatching pants. (Charlotte Observer)
