Baseball Notebook

The Tar Heels wasted a great pitching performance from freshman right-hander Matt Harvey against Old Dominion. In his first appearance as a Tar Heel, the talented freshman struck out eight batters in four and two thirds innings while only giving up three hits and two walks. Harvey was the highest drafted player out of high school to attend college in 2007, as he was a third round pick of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. (Inside Carolina)
