Smith Center turns 20

The Smith Center's original capacity was 21,426 -- a big figure for Dean Smith, who had grown used to Carmichael (original capacity: 8,800) and at first didn't want a new arena. "I was all for staying in Carmichael because it was a hard ticket," Smith said. "I was worried whether something with 20,000 seats would be a hard ticket." (Durham Herald-Sun)
