Mack Brown has the stage that he has wanted

Mack Brown's legacy in Chapel Hill is characterized in two ways: He rebuilt the Tar Heels from the recruiting shambles left by Dick Crum, but he couldn't win the big game. In other words, he couldn't beat Florida State. And then there was that collapse at Virginia in 1996, when the Heels, with a 17-3 lead early in the fourth quarter and driving deep into Cavaliers territory, lost the game 20-17 and an invite to the Fiesta Bowl.
