Patience pays off for Hakeem Nicks

Hakeem Nicks had a college football scholarship offer before he started a high school game. It might have sounded a bit unusual last summer, but few can question the move now. Nicks, a senior receiver at nationally ranked Independence, committed to North Carolina before practice began in July. He knew, after a year subbing for two all-state players, he'd be the Patriots' main target. Nicks' dynamic season made the Tar Heels look all the smarter. (WCNC.com)
