UNC a giant step for Gardner-Webb

Gardner-Webb got 1,000 tickets for the North Carolina game and sold them all. Had the school been able to get its hands on another couple thousand, they'd have disappeared, too. It's a big step for Gardner-Webb, which made the jump to Division I five years ago. The Bulldogs are the preseason pick to win the Atlantic Sun Conference, returning five starters from a team that reached the conference tournament finals last season. (Charlotte Observer)
