North Carolina loses basketball recruit to Washington

North Carolina basketball recruiting target Spencer Hawes, a 6-foot-11 center ranked No. 3 in his class by Scout.com, announced Tuesday he will attend Washington. Hawes, a senior at Seattle Prep, also considered Stanford before deciding to stay close to home. His father and uncle both played basketball for the Huskies. A year ago, Washington beat out Duke for forward Jon Brockman. (Greensboro News & Record)
