In Turmoil and Success, Lakers GM Kupchak Keeps Low Profile

A few minutes after the Los Angeles Lakers advanced to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2004, General Manager Mitch Kupchak was under the spotlight and uncomfortable. Jerry West, Kupchak's friend and mentor, handed him the Western Conference championship trophy at center court at Staples Center and called him, "one of the most incredible people I've been associated with in my life."
