Tailback spot suddenly open


Ever since incumbent Ronnie McGill tore a pectoral muscle while lifting weights in June, it had been widely assumed that transfer Barrington Edwards would start at tailback for North Carolina in its season opener against Georgia Tech on Saturday. But in a surprise turn of events Wednesday, Coach John Bunting said he had not settled on a starter in the Tar Heels’ backfield behind quarterback Matt Baker. (Daily Tar Heel)
