A year ago, the emphasis for North Carolina's defense was on keeping it simple. Know which gaps to fill, cut down on mistakes and make stops. After his team finished near last in the ACC in sacks in 2004, coach John Bunting believed the time was ripe this spring to take the next step, which was to add zone pressure and other quarterback-aggravating defensive schemes.
