The year from hell: Rod Broadway discusses tragedy
Rod Broadway has experienced the euphoria athletics can bring, and he’s suffered the lows life can inflict. In the last 12 months, Broadway, a former University of North Carolina football player and assistant coach, has seen a little of the former and way too much of the latter. “Let me tell you about tragedy,” Broadway said. “It’s been a year from hell. First, I lose my mother, and then my wife passed away last June. Right after football season ended, one of my guys broke his neck. And then four months ago, my 26-year-old secretary died."
