Tar Heels fall short of NCAA title on anniversary of Hubert Davis' hiring

Four days after Roy Williams retired, North Carolina promoted Hubert Davis on April 5, 2021, to be in charge of the Tar Heels men's basketball program. One year later, late on the night of April 4, 2022, Carolina's loss to Kansas in the NCAA final had the Tar Heels on the brink of hanging another championship banner in the Smith Center rafters in Chapel Hill.
