Irish stuck with lemons as refs' call ends drive

Ouch. This one hurt. It hurt because of what was at stake, how close the game was and how it ended, with the Notre Dame offense refusing to leave the field, fans refusing to leave their feet, confused officials huddling at midfield and lemons cascading down on the visitors' sideline. This one hurt, all right, and that's not even the worst part. Because next week is a bye week, the Irish will have two weeks to replay in their heads their painful 29-24 loss to No. 22 North Carolina on Saturday. (Chicago Sun-Times)
