E.J. Wilson's painful youth helps him assume leadership

By the time he was 12 years old, UNC defensive end E.J. Wilson had been slammed in the forehead with a baseball bat, knocked off his bike by a speeding Cadillac and further scarred by a go-cart flip. So what does he want to be when his football career is over? "A physical therapist,'' he said, grinning. The way he's playing this season -- 21 tackles, a sack and a team-leading six quarterback hurries -- the 6-foot-3, 280-pound junior may have years left on the field.
