Daniel Bard Made an Improbable Comeback. Then He Had to Do It Again

In his junior year, Daniel Bard led UNC to the College World Series finals. Afterward, he was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the first round. He reported to the instructional league in Arizona, where prospects train with less pressure and scrutiny than they face in the minors. He threw three innings, and nearly every pitch went a hundred miles per hour.
