In-state schools make final push for recruits

An 18th player committed to the Tar Heels last week in West Craven High wide receiver Erik Highsmith. But UNC is still in the mix for several prominent players, including in-state receiver Jheranie Boyd and Baltimore running back Tavon Austin. Boyd, from Gastonia’s Ashbrook High, is regarded as the state’s top receiving prospect. He’s narrowed his list of options to Illinois, Missouri, N.C. State, North Carolina and Oklahoma.
