Top football recruit Boyd picks UNC


One of the state’s top prospects announced Wednesday he’ll accept a scholarship offer to play for North Carolina. Jheranie Boyd, a wide receiver from Gastonia's Ashbrook High School, revealed his decision during a pep rally at the high school’s football stadium about 11:45 a.m. Boyd chose the Tar Heels over a final five that also included Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma and N.C.
