Heels aim for Women's NIT semis


North Carolina will host No. 22 Xavier tonight in the semifinals of the Preseason Women's NIT at 7 p.m. at the Smith Center. It will be the teams' first meeting. The Tar Heels, ranked No. 6, earlier defeated visiting Western Carolina 90-56 and Virginia Commonwealth 77-65 to earn the semifinal berth. UNC improved to 3-0 on Monday night with a 102-68 win over Kennesaw State in a non-WNIT game. (Durham Herald-Sun)
