North Carolina, West Virginia tapped for Charlotte bowl

Meineke Car Care Bowl executive director Will Webb has been saying for weeks that landing teams located within a short driving distance would be critical for bowls this season in a difficult economy. Webb got his wish as the Meineke Bowl announced Sunday that North Carolina will play in the Dec. 27 game at Bank of America Stadium. The Tar Heels (8-4) will be matched against West Virginia (8-4), whose fans are known for supporting the team in large numbers. (Charlotte Observer)
