Vance sophomore Marquis Rankin is youngster on the rise
Posted Apr 20, 2009
No one is more surprised that Vance High's Marquis Rankin might be the best sophomore basketball player in North Carolina than, well, Marquis Rankin. This week, coaches from Duke and North Carolina are expected at Vance's after-school workouts, mainly to get a good look at the 6-foot-1 point guard with the impossibly long arms. Rankin made 41 percent of his 3-point shots last season and averaged 12 points, 5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3 steals for Vance (24-4).
