Butch Davis knows about paying your dues

Butch Davis' experiences in previous stops, as an assistant with the Dallas Cowboys and as head coach at Miami — along with an ill-fated detour with the Cleveland Browns — have taught him there's a process to winning championships. “We would have never won three Super Bowls had we never gone through the 1-15 and 7-9 steps,” Davis said of the Cowboys. That's Davis admitting that in two seasons, the Heels had not paid their dues yet.
