Red Sox 5, Phillies 2: Bard helps win battle of the bullpens

As the bullpen literally shrunk around him Friday night at Citizens Bank Park, Daniel Bard began to sense that this could be his chance to be a hero. The Red Sox rookie had already watched Ramon Ramirez blow a 2-1 lead in the ninth inning when Phillies slugger Ryan Howard crushed a fastball for a game-tying home run. (Providence Journal)
