This simply was not supposed to happen. No Atlantic Coast Conference baseball team had ever gone to the College World Series in four consecutive seasons. With the best players leaving after three seasons for pro ball, and some of the finest recruits never matriculating to campus after being signed directly out of high school by major-league teams, the continuity is just too difficult to maintain.
