Texas Coach Augie Garrido calls it a mystical experience, and Arizona State Coach Pat Murphy wonders why Bruce Springsteen doesn’t show up. “This is his kind of event, an event for the people,” Murphy said. “No question he should be here.” It must be the College World Series, the eight-team, two-week marathon to determine college baseball’s national champion and provide ESPN with programming.
