There was once a character in the Lil’ Abner comic strip named Joe Btfsplk, who was a likeable enough fellow, but whose luck was so perpetually bad that he literally walked around with a black cloud hanging over his head. Though it was never stated whether Old Joe rooted for any particular team or school, chances are, he was an N.C. State fan.
