Nittany Lions add coveted tight end Kevin Haplea
Posted Jul 28, 2009
Kevin Haplea (North Hunterdon, N.J.) committed to Penn State over West Virginia Monday during an 11 AM press conference, ESPN affiliate Web site Nittany Network.com reports. Florida State, North Carolina and Pittsburgh were also in his top five. "I did a silent verbal over the phone," Haplea said. "I called Coach (Dick) Anderson and Coach (Bill) Kenney on July 7. I let them know I had picked Penn State, but to keep it under wraps. I wanted to wait to tell Coach (Joe) Paterno in person."
