That night Dick Baddour, UNC's athletic director, called me at home and said, "Roy, we want you to come back and be the basketball coach at North Carolina." "Dick," I said, "this is really going to be a hard decision. I'm going to need some time to get this clear in my mind. I won't drag this out, but give me a week to think about it." It was a frenzy.
