Hometown roots vivid in Zach Loyd's soccer journey

Zach Loyd, one of college soccer's top players this season, proudly calls Verdigris (Ok.) home. The small Rogers County community seems just as excited about the senior captain for the UNC soccer team. "He's always kept in touch with us," said Bill Von Thaden, a Verdigris teacher for the past 30 years. Loyd has helped lead the No. 5 Tar Heels into the "College Cup," soccer's equivalent to the Final Four. (Tulsa World)
