Harrison Barnes named to Naismith watch list


Harrison Barnes of Ames has been named one of 10 finalists for the Naismith Boys’ High School Player of the Year Award, an honor that goes to the nation’s top basketball player. Barnes, an Ames senior, was the only player from the Midwest placed on the watch list. The prestigious award is presented by the Atlanta Tipoff Club. Among the previous winners: NBA stars Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. (Des Moines Register)
