Deon Thompson making great strides

Somewhere in her home in Torrance, Calif., Pat Thompson has a video of her son, Deon, playing youth league YMCA basketball – sort of. “He did like to play on offense, but running wasn't really his thing,” she said recently, laughing at the memory. “When I see him now, and how fast he goes, I just have to laugh – because I never thought he'd end up being a basketball player.” (Charlotte Observer)
