Vigils for Slain UNC Student Body President Draw Thousands
Posted Mar 7, 2008
About 5,000 mourners filled The Pit on the UNC campus Thursday evening for a candlelight vigil to remember the school's student body president – the victim of a shooting that has sent shockwaves through the UNC community. Hours earlier, a solemn, similar-sized crowd flocked to the quad outside Polk Place for a short memorial service during which students, faculty and staff cried and held each other.
