Tar Heels dash Hokies’ hopes

Virginia Tech came to UNC for last night's ACC opener hoping injured guard Malcolm Delaney could play, hoping to bury memories of its recent close losses to the Tar Heels, hoping to make history by starting a season more impressively than it had in 27 years. For a half, those hopes appeared to materialize. Then they hit a second-half scoring drought, as the ninth-ranked Tar Heels contained Delaney on their way to a 78-64 victory.
