Ackley, White Garner Raleigh Hot Stove Awards

Dustin Ackley earned his third straight college player of the year award Tuesday, while classmate Alex White garnered the college pitcher of the year award Monday night. Both White and Ackley will be honored at the 60th annual banquet at NC State's McKimmon Center. Ackley capped his stellar career at Carolina holding school records in hits (346), runs (227), batting average (.412) and total bases (544) in just 207 games. The Walnut Cove, N.C. product was the second pick in the 2009 MLB draft taken by the Seattle Mariners. (Tar Heel Blue)
