One-on-One With: John Clougherty
Posted Feb 15, 2010
As the coordinator of basketball officials for the ACC since June 2005, 66-year-old John Clougherty is tasked with monitoring and improving the overall quality of officiating in the league. The job can be thankless. Not only must Clougherty decide who wears the black-and-white stripes and which games they work, he also must serve as an intermediary between coaches and officials. He is, as he acknowledges, “a one-man complaint department.”
