Nearly 50 years later, William Friday remembers the details to a point-shaving scandal in the ACC as if it happened just a week ago. He also stands just as firm today with his decision then to scale back big-time basketball at North Carolina and N.C. State. Friday's belief at the time was the Dixie Classic represented how college athletics was fast distancing itself from the university campus. (Raleigh News & Observer)
