Eve Carson murder suspect pleads guilty

One of two men accused in the 2008 shooting death of UNC's student body president pleaded guilty Monday to federal charges, avoiding a possible death sentence. Demario James Atwater pleaded guilty to five charges, including carjacking resulting in death and kidnapping resulting in death in the March 5, 2008, shooting of Eve Marie Carson. His trial was set to begin May 3. (WRAL.com)
