Swinging for the Fences

On a balmy spring night several years ago, Dustin Ackley drove home in tense silence after a baseball game at South Stokes High School. He didn’t seem like a guy who had just collected a couple of hits in a winning effort. In his mind, he didn’t hit the ball hard enough. Upon pulling up to the Ackley home in Walnut Cove, he marched to the backyard where the old batting cage awaited. (Winston-Salem Monthly)
