UNC holds off Delaware in opening-round lacrosse shootout

A game featuring two of the nation's top attackmen -- ACC player of the year Billy Bitter of North Carolina and Tewaarton Award finalist Curtis Dickson of Delaware -- figured to have a lot of scoring. Surprisingly, neither star scored a goal Sunday evening at Fetzer Field, but the NCAA Tournament opener still was an exciting back-and-forth contest that featured 10 ties before No. 4 North Carolina held on for a 14-13 win.
