Sylvia Hatchell gives $50K to cancer fund

UNC women's basketball coach Sylvia Hatchell has seen one of her players, Jessica Breland, get diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, go through chemotherapy and eventually earn a clean bill of health to rejoin her teammates on the court. Watching Breland's battle with cancer and having been through a cancer scare in 2000 were some of the reasons the Hall of Fame coach decided to donate $50,000 to the N.C. Cancer Hospital Pediatric Oncology Endowment Fund on Friday. (Durham Herald-Sun)
