‘The Boss’ had UNC ties

Everyone remembers George Steinbrenner as the brash, outspoken owner of the New York Yankees. But you may also be surprised to know that “The Boss” also had strong ties with the University of North Carolina. Steinbrenner, who died of a heart attack at the age of 80 on Tuesday, had a long association with the Tar Heels that began when his daughter came to Chapel Hill as an undergraduate in 1977.
