The hoo-ha over this [NCAA investigation of UNC] is silly and insignificant considering the larger context of the out-of-control world of college sports far beyond Chapel Hill and the attempts to reconcile gazillion-dollar sports programs with the academic enterprises of which they are supposed to be just a part. At more and more schools, that marriage, frankly, is on the rocks. (Raleigh News & Observer)
