Perry Ellis, a can’t-miss NBA prospect, has already learned a cautionary lesson
Posted Aug 1, 2010
Perry Ellis — the No. 9 player in the 2012 recruiting class, according to ESPN — has led Wichita Heights to back-to-back Class 6A state championships and has won two Gatorade Kansas Player of the Year awards. He’s guarded Kevin Durant. LeBron James gave Ellis a pair of size-13 shoes. He’s one of 30 players Nike invited to an elite tournament this week in Portland, Ore. Even before he enters his junior year of high school, Ellis can have his pick of Division I colleges. Ellis says he wants to play one year and then enter the NBA draft.
