Prognosticator high on Tar Heels, low on Wolfpack

Phil Steele ranks North Carolina No.12 in his top 25 and pegs the Tar Heels for a 10-2 record. He also has them as a potential "surprise" team in the national title race. The national title? "Defense wins championships," Steele said, "and they have perhaps the best 'D' in the country." Steele hedges his bets on the Heels, though, picking them third in the Coastal Division. He has less confidence in N.C. State. (Charlotte Observer)
