Khalif Mitchell has a shot at making 49ers' active roster

Khalif Mitchell met Kentwan Balmer on a recruiting visit to UNC in 2003. They played together on the Tar Heels' defensive line for two seasons before Mitchell transferred to ECU. "I know him better than anyone in this whole facility, and I know something was definitely bothering him to make him want to get his situation straight." That situation led to Balmer being traded to the Seattle Seahawks last week and gave Mitchell a better shot of making the 49ers' roster. (Sacramento Bee)
