Former University of North Carolina system president William Friday has long been a proponent of reform as founding co-chair of the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics. A day after North Carolina's stunning announcement of possible academic fraud in its football program, Friday repeated his long-held stance that commercialization is ruining college sports.
