Tar Heels add late football recruit

North Carolina has made a late addition to its 2008 football recruiting class and has landed a second junior-college transfer. Joseph Townsend, a 6-4, 295-pound defensive tackle from San Jose, Calif., has signed a national letter of intent with UNC. He is the 18th member of the class, the first full class at UNC for Coach Butch Davis. (Winston-Salem Journal)
