NCAA Investigation To Hit North Carolina's Pocketbook

Learfield Communications is locked into a $6.5 million annual agreement with UNC that increases incrementally to $7.5 million by 2021. However, the contract stipulates that Learfield can negotiate a reduction in its payments under two conditions: if the school's football or basketball teams either suffer penalties that exclude them from championship games, or face a reduction in the scholarships they can offer.
