Academic success led Rodney Purvis to reclassify
Posted Oct 20, 2010
Shanda McNair, the mother of 6-foot-5 Upper Room Academy basketball standout Rodney Purvis, said academics was the primary reason that Purvis has decided to return to the class of 2012. Purvis repeated the eighth grade when he enrolled at Upper Room and was expected to graduate in 2013. Purvis made the A-B honor role each grading period last year. He also averaged 28 points per game and caught national recruiting attention. Among his suitors are Duke and North Carolina.
