George Karl on cusp of landmark win No. 1,000

George Karl wants to get this over with and join the exclusive 1,000-win club Tuesday night when the Denver Nuggets visit the Charlotte Bobcats. Not necessarily because it's just a 2 1/2-hour drive down Interstate 85 from Chapel Hill, where he embarked on a life in basketball four decades ago while playing for Dean Smith and the North Carolina Tar Heels.
