Roy Williams defines toughness as doing the little things like taking charges, making free throws and boxing out bigger players. But he also defines toughness as not giving in. And for the second straight game, the Tar Heels showed their toughness by rallying from a double-digit deficit in the second half to hang on for a victory as they beat Virginia Tech 64-61 in their ACC home opener Thursday night at the Smith Center.
